Political system

Batavia's parliament and executive government are more or less separated. The Batavian parliament exists out of the two most important chambers. These are the Hogerhuis, the chamber reserved for the nobility, and the Lagerhuis, which represents the people of Batavia.

Hogerhuis

The Hogerhuis is the advising chamber of the parliament. It helps the King in his tasks and points out the Prime Minister.
When a new King comes to power he ceremonially opens the Hogerhuis.

Lagerhuis

The Lagerhuis is the representation of the Batavian people. Laws are discussed and approved or disapproved by this chamber of parliament. Furthermore this chamber checks decrees and approves or disapproves the Prime Minister, who is chosen by the Hogerhuis.

Government

The Royal Batavian Government is the executive power in the Kingdom. The King is the head of state, but does not intervene in governing the country. Governing is the job of the Prime Minister, who leads the government, and the ministers.

I. Who form the Government?
The government exists out of the Prime Minister, with ministers on his side to assist him. A minister can be assisted by a secretary of state.
